Dreaming of a White Easter
Even in the south of Sweden you can get snowstorms in the spring. The peasants of Småland say “Aprilsnö är fåragö”, meaning roughly that thanks to the April snow there will be plenty of grass for the sheep to graze on in the summer. This picture shows the snow-covered letter-boxes in the village in March 1999. There was a snowstorm all over southern Sweden, and we drove from the Landvetter airport near Göteborg to the village of Örsåsa in the north of the Kalmar district. That took all night. In the morning there was a half metre of snow and we had to dig the car out.
