One artist to watch: Kim Dong-Won

Both Marianne and I reacted the same way when we came into the gallery. We both saw Mr Kim's bold paintings, a series called Deep Water, in the faraway corner. The self-portraits are executed in oil on cancas, and the one above is big, 160 by 130 cm. It was impossible to resist, so it now hangs in our living room.
The show in the center of Seoul was the Kyunghee University College of Fine Art's graduation exhibition. It was the first painting that Mr Kim Dong-Won sold, but it will not be the last one. Mr Kim hopes to be going to USA to continue his art studies 2006. The university that gets him as a student should consider itself lucky.
