Brass cymbals and booming beat
Saturday we went out to National Museum of Contemporary Art in Seoul Grand Park. Everyone else had decided to go there as well, we realized when we got there, but it was OK. The cherry trees were in blossom, and families strolled about. We checked out the Gerhard Richter exhibition, there were a couple of paintings in the show that he didn't have in his big retrospective in New York a couple of years ago, and some it was nice to see again (like the big Nordsee-canvas with rolling grey waves and dark skies).
After the museum we got a nice surprise: in the sculpture park there was a free concert with Dulsori, a group of (mostly female) Korean drummers. They rocked big time! The energy and pulsating rhythms they rolled out over the happy audience brought a smile to every face, the kids were up dancing and the sun shone down on us: spring had come to Seoul.
Dulsori was formed 1984, and has performed in America, Europe and Africa. If you have a chance, don't miss them! They will perform in Seoul on April 30 again. After that they will go on an international tour.

1 Comments:
I could only find them in Cork in June so I'm not sure they will be anywhere near me! But I did enjoy the Japanese drummers I "saw" here recently, so will look out for them.
